Don't Forget The Phone.

Last week I went down to Salt Lake City for work to hit up the Outdoor Retailer Show and while I was there I had a chance to try out the camera on my new mobile phone. I am super stoked on the quality of the images. Really the whole reason I got the phone was because of the camera options. I look forward to messing around with it a lot more. Though I do not think I will ever be at the level that Nick rocks with his phone camera nor does it have the features he uses but I still like it. In fact I just love having a camera with me at all times cause you never know when something is going to catch the eye and being hooked on collecting images I find that sometimes I would rather just take a picture of things than buy it.

Here are a few pics that I took with the Samsung Rant mobile phone while in SLC.

Foto Test'n.

Bundaberg Root Beer, originally uploaded by redcrowgoods.

Testing out the posting from Flickr option....

The image is of a fine root beer from Australia, Bundaberg. It has a nice taste since they user real sassafras root and cane sugar. The head was super flat so that was a disappointment so over all taste out of 5 would be 3.5 head out of 5 would be a 1. Overall out of 10 it would be a 4.5.

40 years ago the first man walked on the moon!

Now Go build something awesome and don't forget to look up into the sky tonight and see that sliver of a moon and raise a glass to the men who did it first.

Cheers.

West of Here.

This past weekend I finally made it out to Ballard to do a little shopping and exploring. My main focus was to get to BlackBird. I have been a fan of their blog, web site and the goods that they carry for a very long time and have been wanting to go to the actual shop forever! So I finally did it. They were having a nice end of season sale, but alas nothing caught my eye or tickled my fancy so no exchange of funds passed hands. But I really enjoyed being there and will definitely drop in again, sooner than later, for sure.
I then spent a few hours just wandering the streets and getting a feel of the place. Below is a few images that I thought might be nice to share. Enjoy.

Super stoked on this record shop. But here again no purchases, mostly because I do not currently own a record playing device so it would do me absolutely no good to make any transactions... yet. But I was filled with great excitement with the digging over historical pressed memories and sounds. This place is just filled with history.
If you ever make it up north make sure to have it in your plans to drop in on the city of Ballard, WA.

Cheers.

Put a SPiN on It.

One of the biggest things I miss the most about my former place of employment, besides the awesome people I worked with there, was the daily 'Paddle Battles' between me and a group of co workers. I miss it man, I miss it a lot.

Over a year and a half ago I built my first table tennis 'bat' and shortly there after built a case to carry my weapons of choice. Since finding myself in the PNW I have not had any opportunities to play. Though this past weekend I almost brought home a very worn out table, but alas I passed for I know that there are better 'fish' in the sea. I have found a few local clubs here but they are little pricey. So I need to find someone that has a table so I can play! That is the biggest down side to this sport is you can not do it on your own you need a Challenger.

Recently there has been some hype about this beloved sport of Table Tennis since some dude up in a big white house on the east cost of this here USA decided to get a table for him and the family to play on.
Also the opening up of SPiN New York, a club/bar/Table Tennis Mecha, has got a bit of media attention with the support of Susan Sarandon and Fred Perry.
Rub elbows with the pretty people while getting hammered on by Pros from around the world! Sure why not! My next opportunity out to NYC I most definitely plan to hit up this place.
The concept of the place is also part of the brain child of a Jonathan Bricklin and crew,a few film kids from NYC that make, Um 'yoga' videos. They also have been working to make the 2012 us Olympic table tennis team. Not sure how they are doing but from a few web edits out there it seams like they are getting much better than when they started. If you live in the NYC area and have a chance to go, please do, and let me know how it is. It looks a little too 'hip & Cool' for me but still would be fun to check out.

If interested here a few links about Table Tennis.

Now go do something fun!

Mr. Robbins.

There are certain things in life that come and go, and then there is music...
When I was in my grade school days my dad use to wake us up for school by blasting the sound track of "Oklahoma", Ya I know... But the song of choice was 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'

At about the same age that I was rocked from my nightly slumbers with Oklahoma I discovered in my dads records and tape collection his Marty Robbins "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" and I fell in love with the songs and stories that Mr. Robbins shared. I played that thing over and over and over again. There is just something great about guys running around with a 'big Iron' strapped to his waist and a song to go with it. Something you just don't hear from modern bands.

My favorite song from this album had to be 'Cool Water'. I don't really know why, there was something about it that just got to me. I remember hiking around up in Alta UT looking for old silver mines with my Dad and just singing this song as we climbed around in the rocks and tree line.

Enter the high school days and of course this music 'sucks' for no other reason than it was not what my friends listened to or what the cool kids played. So following the herd I all but had forgotten about such great tunes as this.

High School mentality is so funny! Who cares what music you listen to as long it gets you stoked or whatever... Come to today and my long forgotten friend is back with me. I have been wearing out my copy of this and his other albums and like I said up top things come and go but then there is music. It just stays with you and like an old friend it will be there for the good and the bad and will wait for your return. I have returned. I know there is great new bands and music out there but as I listen to this stuff I just long for more. Do they make stuff this good now? I don't know, but for me Mr. Robbins sure gets me stoked. And maybe the reason that I like this style of music is that it brings with it nostalgia of a different time, an older time, and a simpler time were boys dreamed of becoming real cowboys.

My favorite song right now has to be this one. Enjoy.

Cheers

Keep the Mill Turning.

Stumbled upon a denim company today that caught my attention Anytime you mix the past with a new product you have my attention. Well enter Amoskeag XX Coveralls. Apparently in the 18th century there was one of the first denim mills in America called Amoskeag mill that used the power of the river to drive its weaving machines. Got me interest. Well during the great depression the mill slowly shut down. Enter today and the name is brought back to life in a modern denim and apparel company. I like that they offer in their knit shirts a clean version and a well worn version. I am still wondering when someone will figure out a way to build a good quality "heritage" denim and put it up for a reasonable price... Well if you have the $ and want to check em out go here. And for more info go on some of what they are up to go here.

Cheers.
