Inspo From Books.

Sometimes I wonder if I am just a strange bloke, as I love books. Nothing strange about that, I know, but I love to read non fiction books. Fiction just dose not do it for me. But if I really want to settled down for a good read I like to turn to a good biography. Stories of real folks doing what they do. Overcoming adversity. Making do with what is given them, or just the story of how they got to where they are today. In some cases what they did with the life they were given here on earth... I just like learning about how people do things. One such part of that interest is, being that I find myself feeding my family thru employment in the Apparel and Design field, that of Designers sketch books and or Pin boards (aka:mood boards, season boards or just, inspiration boards).
A while back I picked up one such book at a roadside stand along the information highway, Fashion Designers Sketchbook by Hywel Davies
There are a lot of really great Designers found within the pages of said book such as Aitor Throup and Margaret Howell. One that recently jumped out at me upon a revisit from the book shelf was that of Frank Leder.
So now I share with you these wonderful pages. Enjoy.

How's That Plan.

I originally just wanted to point out the above and leave it at that but as I linked onto Mr. Kenans blog I find that he not only shoots really well he is quite the creative. Go read his blog... well it s more than just a simple blog so you need to explore and discover... and then wonder what you have been doing with your life!

Light Revealed.

So the past few post have been focused on photography and those who play and play very well...
I would like to say that this form of art and expression is one that I am activly persuing myself but alas I am not I just have an interest to dabble and a great respect for those that are making it happen with their light capturing boxes....

Archive: Tim Walker Vogue UK Feb 2009.

These photos are amazing. Great lighting, good composition but what makes it so amazing is his prop layout. After seeing this I had to find out more about this Tim Walker kid. Check out his work here.
I find his work so interesting because he builds a story in his own wonderful made up reality. I like photo spreads that tell a story not just "here is a model in some clothes just hanging out trying to look beautiful". I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

The Potting of Art.

A while back while enjoying the posts of Mr. Lord Whimsy he had made mention and shared with all the image of a stack of planting pots at his local nursery. While I was at my local nursery perusing around seeing what kind of mischief I could find I ended up in the section of planting pots and whipped out the ol' Nikon and had a go at it myself taking my own creative license to play. Here is what I came home with.

Oddly Wonderful.

While researching for ideas on the 'ol net machine I have stumbled upon a young foto slave, Anja Niemi, who's work is very wonderful and slightly disturbing but in a very odd and lovely way. Please find inspiration.

Generations.

While in Utah about a week ago we went and visited with Grandma Walker up in South Ogden and while there i shot this pic of her with Liam. i love this foto, just how simple and peaceful it makes me feel. Generations of time and family...

Time.....

Since I do not go out of the house for work anymore I find that I have time to play with my camera more since it is sitting right there.
It was good light the other day so I shot some pics of Aiden running around the upstairs just messing around with the settings on the ol' Nikon.

On Friday night we had opened a few cans of food for dinner and I remembered that I wanted to try and rig up a pinhole lense to play around with on the digi camera so I poked a hole in the bottom of one of the cleaned out cans and slid it over the lens but alas it did not work.... then on Saturday I used up the rest of our apple jelly and decided to try it again by poking a pin hole into the top of the lid...

Like so.

I then placed it over the lens kind of like a lens cap but still no luck then it hit me take off the lens and just use the body and place the cap over like a lens and try it....

I then set the camera to BULB setting and manual focus and gave it a go counting to 10 and 15 and so on and

IT WORKED!!!!! so much fun!






Also we cleaned up and re-aranged the studio so here is my new work space.

Now it is time to get to work.

Boom Into The Night

So the other night, the 4th of July to exact, played with fire and decided to shoot the fun.
